OPENING A NEW DIAMONDBACK COMBO LOCK

June 25, 2006

I have a Diamondback lock that has never been used or opened because we couldn't figure out how to do it. Could you send me detailed instructions on how to open and then set the combination for this lock? Thanks.

Kathy S.

Kathy:
Combo lock manufacturers often set the default combination to all zeroes or some other digit. Try that.
Many such locks allow setting the combination in the same way: First, you engage a switch. Next, you set the combo you want. Then you disengage the switch.
The switch usually consists of a lever, button, or dial that resides on the inner part of the lock assembly, where you could see it only with the lock open.
If all else fails, use the Raleigh Web site’s dealer locator (Raleigh makes Diamondback) and contact a dealer for help.

I just came across one of your answers regarding a Diamondback combo lock, and I thought I
d offer what I just discovered.
For the particular combo lock I had, there
s a little hole on the head of the lock that can be pushed in with a pen. Set the combo to the current combination (default: 0000), press the button until it clicks, set the new combo, and then close the lock. The button will pop out, and the new combination should be set.
